Your Deductible Resets January 1st. Here's What That Means for Your Feet

Year End Orthotic Coverage

Most insurance plans run on the calendar year and cover procedures and billing completed before December 31. By this point in the year, many patients have already met their deductible, meaning custom orthotics may be mostly or entirely covered.

That window closes faster than it looks
Creating custom orthotics takes four to to six weeks, because every step is built around your feet specifically
  • A visit with your doctors
  • Molding your foot so measurements are precise
  • Manufacturing the insert
  • Trimming to customize the finished insert
  • A follow-up visit to confirm the fit
To receive your orthotics before mid December and have charges submitted to insurance in 2026, we recommend scheduling by early November.

Already have custom orthotics?
If they are around a year old, it's a good time to have them checked. Support can fade before you notice it. At two years or older, it's time to talk about replacing them.

Cold Feet? It Might Be Circulation

(opens in a new tab)
Cold feet, tired legs, or slow healing wounds are easy to blame on age. Often they're early signs of a circulation problem.
For patients with diabetes, circulation and sensation problems often develop together. Reduced feeling means an injury goes unnoticed and reduced blood flow means it heals slowly.
PADNet is a non-invasive test, takes about 30 minutes, and measures the blood flow in your legs and feet which helps identify peripheral arterial disease early.
Screening is recommended for:
  • Adults 65 and older
  • Adults 55+ with diabetes, a history of smoking, high cholesterol, taking a statin medication of heart disease
  • Anyone with cold or numb feet, fatigue while walking, or wounds that heal slowly
If you have diabetes or other risk factors, annual testing tracks changes over time rather than waiting for a problem to announce itself.
