Dr. Athanasios Garbis earned his undergraduate degree from Loyola University Chicago before receiving his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
He completed his three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency with added credentialing in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery at McLaren Oakland in Detroit, Michigan. During residency, he received comprehensive training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, trauma, sports medicine, diabetic limb salvage, wound care, and complex foot and ankle pathology.
Dr. Garbis is board qualified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery in both Foot and Rearfoot/Ankle surgery.
Dr. Garbis is currently the NIFAS Fellow working alongside Dr. McEneaney and the rest of the NIFAS team.
Dr. Garbis is committed to understanding each patient's goals and concerns, taking the time to answer every question and ensure patients feel informed and confident throughout their care. He develops personalized treatment plans that combine evidence-based medicine with each individual's needs, whether through conservative therapies or advanced surgical intervention.
In his free time, Dr. Garbis enjoys staying active, exploring new restaurants, reading, following Chicago Sports, and spending time with friends and family.
